Joseph R. Moss, Esq., more commonly known by his nickname “Jody,” is an associate attorney at The Law Office of Sutton T. Slover, P.C. Although he is aggressive while fighting the opposition, he takes a more humane and empathetic approach to his clients in advising them of ways to protect their legal interest against the powerful insurance companies. His unique experience in the years leading up to becoming an attorney has provided both the knowledge and experience needed to strategically obtain great results for his clients.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Jody joined the United States Marine Corps just after graduating high school. While serving his country, he did two tours overseas: his first was based out of Okinawa, Japan, where he conducted joint task force training across southeast Asia and Australia; and his second was aboard the USS Nassau out of North Carolina, which took him throughout the Mediterranean and ultimately landed him in the Al Anbar province of Iraq. Upon returning home in 2006, Jody was honorably discharged and obtained his General Contractors License in Florida. However, this was short lived as a result of the housing crisis in 2008. In 2009, Jody was called back into public service as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician.

While serving two major metropolitan Fire Departments in the Atlanta area, Jody obtained numerous life safety awards. Most notably, he and his team were awarded the Gwinnett Medal of Honor stemming from actions during a hostage standoff in 2013. Contemporaneous with his service as a Firefighter, Jody further obtained an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science, a Bachelor Degree in American Government with a focus in Pre-Law from Liberty University graduating Summa Cum Laude, and a Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshal Law School. Jody graduated from law school a semester early and earned the coveted CALI Award in Mediation. In the fall of 2021, during his tenure at John Marshal, Jody got his foot in the door as an extern at Slover Law and the rest was history.

Recognizing his tenacious work ethic and zeal for his clients, Sutton quickly offered Jody a paid internship. From there, Jody served in almost every capacity at Slover Law from conducting front-line intakes to serving now as an associate attorney taking lead on much of the workload here. Jody has now been a part of the team for over two years and has been a part the Firm’s success in resolving cases, from obtaining judgments in court to negotiating settlements.

Having run thousands of car wrecks and emergency calls as a prior EMT, Jody’s knowledge from both his formal training and experience as an EMT have proven to be a valuable asset to the team here at Slover Law. Jody is licensed to practice law in the Superior and State Courts of Georgia. It is his experience in the emergency medical field combined with his knowledge of the law and zeal for his client’s that make him a great advocate and counselor to help you if you or a friend or family member been involved in an accident, injury, or have suffered a wrongful death.
